چکیده
Objectives: To identify and to characterize of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolates collected from food (n=43), handler (n=8), clinical samples (n=15). Methods: Genotyping was applied for the purposes epidemiological investigation source tracking these isolates. Pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) performed using restriction endonucleases SmaI. Findings: PFGE analysis showed that pulse types differed However, a similarity observed between handlers, suggesting an association two sources MRSA may be transmitted handlers foods. Novelty : genotyping useful, as first study its type in Iraq, investigating relatedness even contaminated sources. Keywords: Epidemiology; isolates; PFGE; SmaI

Detection of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus by Phenotypical and Molecular Methods among Clinical Isolates
Abstract Background and Objective: Increasing prevalence of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains (MRSA) with their multidrug resistance potential causes difficulties in the treatment of infections due to these bacteria. Hence, the detection and determination of the frequency of MRSA strains via phenotypical and molecular methods is necessary in different parts of the county. ...

Staphylococcus aureus has long been recognized as one of the leading cause of hospital infections all over the world. Increased frequency of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in hospitalized patients and possibility of vancomycin resistance requires rapid and reliable characterization of isolates and control of MRSA spread in hospitals. Typing of isolates helps to understand pa...
متن کاملTyping of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Using DNA Fingerprints by Pulsed-field Gel Electrophoresis
BACKGROUND Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is responsible for a wide spectrum of nosocomial and community associated infections worldwide. The aim of this study was to analyze MRSA strains from the general population in Canton Sarajevo, B&H. METHODS Our investigation including either phenotypic and genotypic markers such as antimicrobial resistance, pulsed-field gel electro...
متن کاملDetection of icaABCD Genes and Biofilm Formation in Clinical Isolates of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Background & Objectives: Methicillin resistance Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the most important pathogens that causes several nosocomial and community infections. Adhesion to surfaces and biofilm formation is considered main step in staphylococcal infection. The aims of this study were to determine presence oficaABCD genes and relation to the biofilm formation in of...
متن کاملBiofilm Formation and Detection of IcaAB Genes in Clinical Isolates of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Objective(s) Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is an important cause of nosocomial and community infections. Biofilm formation, mediated by a polysaccharide intercellular adhesin (PIA) and encoded by the ica operon, is considered to be an important virulence factor in both S. epidermidis and S. aureus. However, the clinical impact of the ica locus and PIA production is less w...
